Discount Prescription
Drug Cards to the residents of Florida, FREE. The Children's Volunteer
Health Network (CVHN) announced today that it will distribute the cards.
Everyone is eligible to participate in this program. There are no
restrictions to membership, no income limits, no age limit and no
application to fill out. Residents can download their free card by
visiting CVHN's website (www.childrensvolunteerhealthnetwork.org)
to receive savings of up to 75% at almost every pharmacy in the country.
Also, the card is available through many local doctors and clinics who
participate with CVHN in its mission to assist children without insurance in
receiving medical and dental care. The
Florida prescription card was launched to help the uninsured and
under-insured people of Florida afford their prescription medications.
However, the program can also be used by people who have health insurance
with no prescription drug coverage and high deductible plans.
Additionally, people who have prescription coverage can use this program for
non-formulary or non-covered drugs. It also can be used by those who
do not qualify for publicly funded programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid.
"This will be a godsend" said Tricia Carlisle Northcutt, President
and Founder of CVHN. "We have already had some patients tell us
of 50% savings and more on drugs that they had to pay full price for before
our card. We are happy to have been chosen to distribute the card and
hope everyone will take advantage of it. We urge those who do not
have their drugs covered by insurance to visit our website, download the
card and take it to their local pharmacy. It even helps those who find
themselves in the "donut hole" caused by a quirk in the Part D of
Medicare." The prescription
card is pre-activated and can be used at a participating pharmacy to receive
a discount on medicines. Members save up to 75% with an average
savings of 30%. A complete list of participating pharmacies and list
of drugs covered are available by going to the CVHN website and downloading
the card. This program is powered
by UNA Rx Card which is a division of United Networks of America.
Brian Oliver, EVP, noted “the Free Rx program has brought
almost $66,000,000 in prescription savings to members around the country in
the short history of the program with calendar year savings for 2007
projected to approach $100,000,000.” The UNA Rx card is the
fastest growing discount prescription card company in the U.S. CVHN has
partnered with UNA to bring this service to Northwest Florida. Children’s
Volunteer Health Network, Inc. is a faith-based, 501(c)3 organization whose
mission is to enhance the lives of uninsured and underinsured school-aged
children by facilitating free immediate access to medical, dental and mental
health care. To contact CVHN or get more information about the Florida
